A “Post Judgment” proceeding is a motion or a petition filed after the entry of a final order in your case. A party can file many different types of Motions with the Court after a case is filed, including but not limited to Motions to Compel, Motions for Contempt, Motions to Travel, and Motions to Suspend Timesharing. A Petition is filed when you request the Court to modify or change the terms of your agreement, such as a Petition for Modification of the award of alimony or the amount of child support to be paid or a Petition for Relocation with Minor Children. One of the biggest pitfalls that an unrepresented party often faces in Court is the realization that they have filed improper paperwork.
