A “Post Judgment” proceeding is a motion or a petition filed after the entry of a final order in your case. A party can file many different types of Motions with the Court after a case is filed, including but not limited to Motions to Compel, Motions for Contempt, Motions to Travel, and Motions to Suspend Timesharing. A Petition is filed when you request the Court to modify or change the terms of your agreement, such as a Petition for Modification of the award of alimony or the amount of child support to be paid or a Petition for Relocation with Minor Children. One of the biggest pitfalls that an unrepresented party often faces in Court is the realization that they have filed improper paperwork. It is crucial to have an attorney that knows the procedural differences between a Motion and a Petition and which one is necessary to accomplish your goals.
At Patricia Mesa, P.A., we can review your case and advise you on what options are available to you to enforce or modify the terms of your agreement or Final Judgment. We encourage you to contact our office for a free consultation.
